December 2009
For my first letter to the membership I am at a loss for words. What can I say? I say thank you to the Board for having faith in me to hire me for this position. I hope that I can live up to everyone’s expectations.
Let me tell you a little about myself. I have been a full-time farrier for almost thirty years, practicing in the Sarasota, Florida area where I live with my wife. I have been involved in the American Farriers Association for many years. I am also President-Elect of the AFA, so my plate will be full for the next year. My meeting planning experience comes from years of helping run the AFA’s annual conventions. With this experience I can hopefully help lead the FAEP into the future.
I understand that the last year was a trying time for the FAEP, but thanks to the leadership of the board and Interim Executive Director, Dr. Craig Roberts, the FAEP came out unscathed. This gives me the opportunity start with a clean slate.
My duties as ED of the FAEP include increasing membership benefits. I plan on looking into more benefits for the members. The more benefits we can offer will be an incentive to increasing membership. We must continue to offer the existing programs and excellent CE. There already are plans for a repro wet lab in February at the EMCO clinic in Ocala and a UF student appreciation day in August. The speaker list and schedule for the Promoting Excellence Symposium in Orlando at the Rosen Shingle Creek November 4th – 6th, 2010 are shaping up nicely.
Please feel free to contact me on any issue. My email is Ericfaep@aol.com. The FAEP phone number will remain the same, 352-812-1054.
I look forward to meeting each and every one of you.
Respectfully,
Eric A, Nygaard, CJF
FAEP Executive Director
