Dear Practitioner:

As 2008 begins, we wanted you to know it is going to be an exciting year for the FAEP.  We have expanded our programs and have SIX quality continuing education experiences planned for this year.

Our premier event, the Promoting Excellence Symposium, will be held in San Juan, Puerto Rico September 25th-27th of 2008.  For those of you who are less familiar with the Caribbean, Puerto Rico is a commonwealth of the Unites States, so no passport is required for US citizens to travel there!  The biggest change this year is our expansion to over 30 credit hour format for this main conference to allow more in depth coverage of reproduction, lameness and medicine topics this year.

Establishing industry wide relationships is important to the FAEP.  As such, we proudly announce the collaboration between the AAEVT and the FAEP to add a Certified Veterinary Technician component to this year’s 2008 Promoting Excellence Symposium.

We are proud to announce the First Promoting Excellence Equine Foot Symposium August 8th – 9th at the Orlando World Center Marriott!  Providing 16 hours of continuing education, individual presentations by nationally-known veterinarians and farriers will be complemented by discussion-based panel presentations. The focus of this symposium will be the veterinarian-farrier relationship.  Maintaining optimal performance for elite equine athletes requires open communication and the knowledge base of both the veterinarian and the farrier.

In addition to this major event, we have added a second One-Day Symposium to be held in Florida August 10th at the Orlando World Center Marriott.  This one-day symposium will be designed to fulfill the educational needs of those busy Florida veterinarians who cannot attend our Puerto Rico symposium this year.

We will also continue our Student Appreciation Day October 4th. The mission of this program is to provide a hands-on experience for the University of Florida veterinary students with an interest in equine medicine.

Wet labs on advanced reproduction (October 18th.) embryo transfer and dentistry (October 31 – November 2) will also be available. Each will offer the same hands-on small group attention of our prior wet lab experiences.

Lastly we would like to announce the establishment of the FAEP Foundation.  The main focus of the foundation is youth empowerment.  As the Foundation develops its mission, vision, and programs, we will forward additional information to you.

I look forward to providing more information in the near future regarding these exciting and diverse educational experiences.  Each of these opportunities promises to provide the same quality speakers, timely topics and in-depth coverage you have come to expect from the FAEP.  Come share the passion and enthusiasm for great education that our board has prepared!  I promise we won’t disappoint!  I look forward to greeting all of you at one of these unique meetings this year!

Sincerely,

Craig T. Roberts, DVM
